Teen City Hours of Operations:

Monday - Saturday 2:30 - 9:00 pm 

All programs are held at Teen City unless otherwise specified.

Teen City is located across the street from the Monroe YMCA.

(Entrance in in the Hollywood Video Parking Lot)

 

TEEN CITY DROP-IN

The perfect place to go after school! YOU choose what you do! Relax and talk with friends, work on homework, buy a snack at the Snack Shack, use the internet, play a game, watch a movie, create some art, talk to caring advisors, or make new friends. Teen City is open every day from 2:30-9:00pm for all Monroe YMCA Members. Every Friday we welcome non-member guests as well.

LEADERSHIP CLUBS

MONROE LEADERS CLUB  (Ages 12 - 18)

One of our Most Popular Clubs; The Leaders Club is a program designed to provide teens with the opportunity to engage in building Leadership Skills, and uniqueness in character.  The program meets weekly during the school calendar year. The goals are to learn and grow personally and garner skills in team building, effective communication, daily living and preparation for jobs.  Teens actively particpate in fundraising activities and social outings.  They are offered the opportunity to experience both YMCA Leaders School and North East regional Rallies.

Time:  Wednesday  6:30 - 8.00 pm     Location:  Teen City

 

YOUTH AND GOVERNMENT  (Ages 12 - 18)

Provides teens with the opportunity to use their thoughts, voices and action to make cahnge.  The program is dedicated to teaching young people to use the democratic process to affect change that has an impact on their individual communities and around the State.  You will learn how to research your issue of concern, propose legislation  to improve it or eliminate it, and then have the opportunity to put it before an assembly of your peers to see if they feel the same way you do about the issue.

Time:  Monday 3:00 - 4:00 pm     Location:  School Without Walls

 HELPFUL GROUPS

WOMEN'S GROUP  (Ages 12 - 18)

Once a week you will be able to meet with other young women to have group discussions and take part in various projects.  We'll cover such topics as self-image, drugs, music, violence in our community, responsibility, and in general how to be happy, healthy and proud to be a woman.  New members always welcome

Time:  Wednesdays 6:00 - 7:30 pm     Location:  Teen City

MEN'S GROUP  (Ages 12 - 18)

Once a week meet with other young men to discuss various topics affect young men, and participate in activities involving violence and peace, enviromentalism, current events, and other pressing topics throughout the community. New members always welcome. 

Time:  Wednesday 6:00 - 7:00 pm     Location:  Teen City

HOMEWORK HELPERS  (Ages 12 - 18)

Teen City provides a quiet place from 2:30-3:30 every school day for teens to work on homework, practice computer skills, and conduct research projects. Computers with internet access available for teen use. Staff are available for assistance.

Friday Guest Night

(Ages 12-18)

Friday nights are no-longer open to the community. They are, however, a great time for YMCA members to bring their non-member friends to Teen City as a guest. (2 guest, per member, per Friday)

 Late Night Basketball

(Ages 12-18) 

One night a month, the Monroe YMCA stays open late for our Teens Members to play basketball.

 Open Games, 3X3 Tournaments, free throw contests, and more
